The hardline militant group returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021 after Western forces, including the US and Britain, withdrew following a two decade-long occupation. An MoD spokesperson said: "We owe a debt of gratitude to those brave Afghans who risked their lives working alongside our forces in support of the UK mission. "To ensure ARAP-eligible families can begin a settled life in the UK as quickly as possible, the UK Government is offering transitional and settled accommodation from the Defence Estate, including at East Camp St Athan. "Eligible Afghans will be housed there temporarily for an approximate period of six weeks before moving to more settled accommodation." Afghan citizens who qualify for relocation to the UK under ARAP may come with a partner, dependent children and additional family members who are deemed eligible by the MoD and suitable for relocation by the Home Office. Those who arrive in the UK under the scheme have indefinite leave to remain in the UK. At a meeting Wednesday, the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District board said it will now work with Disney to update the district’s 2020 comprehensive plan. But a little later in the day, at a news conference in Orlando, DeSantis took aim at critics in the media and elsewhere who predicted that Disney would win its lawsuits and take back its self-governing status. "The reality is here we are a year later and not one of them has succeeded," DeSantis said. "Every action we have taken has been upheld in full. And the state’s better off for it." As reported by ANI, when asked about US President Joe Biden’s reaction to Netanyahu’s decision Kirby said, âWe’re kind of perplexed by this. A couple of points that need to be stated and, in fact, restated. Number one, it’s a nonbinding resolution. So, there’s no impact at all on Israel and Israel’s ability to continue to go after Hamas. Number two, as I said in my opening statement, it does not represent a change at all in our policy." âIt’s very consistent with everything that we’ve been saying we want to get done here. And we get to decide what our policy is. The prime minister’s office seems to be indicating through public statements that we somehow changed here. We haven’t. And we get to decide what -- what our policy is. It seems like the prime minister’s office is choosing to create a perception of daylight here when they don’t need to do that. So, again, no change in our policy," he added. Kirby’s statement comes after Netanyahu on Monday cancelled a high-stakes delegation visit to Washington after the US refused to veto a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during Ramzan. In a statement, Netanyahu’s office called the US abstention âa clear departure from the consistent position of the United States at the Security Council since the beginning of the war." The statement released by Netanyahu’s office reads, "The United States has abandoned its policy in the UN today." "In light of the change in the US position, Prime Minister Netanyahu decided that the delegation will remain in Israel," it added. Across the country the Russian tricolour is flying at half mast, entertainment and sports events have been cancelled, TV newsreaders are wearing black. It might not be in the centre of Moscow, but Crocus City Hall is one of the most prominent music venues in Russia. But Friday’s bloodbath turned a concert hall into hell. The attackers killed not only with bullets, but with fire. They set the building alight and created an inferno. Video released by Russia’s Investigative Committee shows that the roof collapsed. Metal beams, too. Outside the building the police lines are still in place. From where I’m standing, I can see a single burned-out section of the entertainment complex. It’s a hint of the devastation inside. People are queuing to lay flowers at a makeshift shrine to the victims of the atrocity. The mountain of tributes is growing ever larger. As well as leaving roses and carnations here, visitors are placing dolls and soft toys on the flowers. That’s because among the dead were children. People have been leaving messages, too. But the Moscow attack raises particularly difficult issues for Vladimir Putin at a time of international tension and mistrust. And much of that comes because of a warning from Washington. The 7 March warning from the US to its own citizens was unusually specific. It talked of reports that "extremists" had "imminent plans to target large gatherings in Moscow" and specifically mentioned concerts. It advised Americans in the city to avoid large gatherings over the coming 48 hours. The timing may not quite match, but other details do tally closely with events on 22 March. It seems clear Washington had some kind of intelligence and that it related to Islamic State (IS) - the group that has issued a statement saying it was behind the Moscow attack.
